മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ അമ്പോലിയിൽ ഈ കഴിഞ്ഞ ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 2 , 3 , 4 തീയതികളിൽ നടന്ന BNHS ഹെർപ്പറ്റോളജി ഫീൽഡ് ക്യാംപിൽ ഞാനെടുത്ത ചില ചിത്രങ്ങൾ !

എല്ലാം മലബാർ പിറ്റ് വൈപ്പറുകളാണ് .. (all male)

തവളകളുടെ സാമ്രാജ്യം ആയത് കൊണ്ടാകാം പാമ്പുകളും ധാരാളമുള്ള മേഖലയാണ് പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ അമ്പോലി .. !

രാത്രി, പെരുമഴയത്ത് കാട്ടിലൂടെയുള്ള ഹെർപ്പിങ്ങിൽ വളരെയേറെ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. പിടിക്കുന്ന കാട്ടുവള്ളിയിലോ മരച്ചില്ലകളിലോ ഈ പാമ്പുകൾ ഉണ്ടാകും ...

ജീവപരിസരത്തിൽ പെട്ടെന്നൊന്നും തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ പറ്റാത്ത നിറങ്ങളും കലകളുമാണ് .....

ഒരു ദശബ്ദത്തോളമായി മേഖലയിൽ ഫീൽഡ് ഗൈഡ് ആയ കാക്കയും , ബയോളജിസ്റ്റുകളായ, പ്രണദും പ്രിയദർശിനിയും, പിന്നെ കൃത്യമായ പ്രൊട്ടക്ടീവ് ഗിയറുകളും, സൂക്ഷ്മ നിരീക്ഷണവും വകതിരിവും ആണ് അപകടങ്ങൾ ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നത് ....

എന്നാലും തിരക്കുള്ള ഹൈവേയുടെ ഓരത്തൂടെ നടക്കുമ്പോഴുള്ള വാഹനാപകട സാധ്യതയോളം തന്നെ അപകടം ഹെർപ്പിങ്ങിനും ഉണ്ട്.

ഹെർപ്പിങ് ട്രിപ്പുകൾ വിനോദമല്ല പഠനമാണ് എന്ന ബോധ്യത്തോടെ നടത്തിയാൽ മനുഷ്യനും പാമ്പുകൾക്കുമുള്ള അപകടങ്ങൾ കുറയും.

The Malabar Pit Viper is a strikingly patterned snake with adaptations for a semi-arboreal lifestyle. These snakes are primarily nocturnal, being most active at night. They rely on their camouflage for both hunting and avoiding predators. Although venomous, their poison is not typically fatal to humans.
